Zenten Aikido has direct permission from the Aikikai Foundation to test its students and register them within its foundation, which world headquarter is in Tokyo. By testing and becoming a member of the Aikikai, your child will be able to train in any Aikikai-affiliated dojos around the world and have their grading (colored belt) recognized.
- After the first belt (kyu) test, our students will receive a membership card issued by the Aikikai Foundation. This membership card has a personal registration number and is valid for life. No membership renewal fee needed.
- For each color-belt (kyu) test, our student receive a certificate issued by the Aikikai Foundation with their name, rank, and the date of issuance. Please, refer to the translated certificate picture above.

Belt Testing Requirements
- Belt testing readiness is decided based upon students’ ability to demonstrate belt techniques, ability to show proper dojo etiquette, and right attitude/efforts in class.
- There is no preset time between graduating from one belt color to the next color-belt test. All depends on the students’ readiness to pass their next-level belt test.
- Students need to be able to demonstrate belt techniques required for their next belt test, in addition to all other techniques they had to learn for their previous belt test. Techniques from previous belt test are expected to be performed with a greater level of movement precision and confidence.
